Haldi, mehndi and sangeet invitation messages

Here are 35 invitation messages for the wedding functions before the big day: haldi, mehndi, sangeet, garba and cocktail night. There are formal lines for family, fun ones for friends, dress-code notes, and Hindi and Gujarati wording. Each one uses {{name}}, so every guest is invited by their own name, and you can send the function card with their name printed on it.

How to use these messages

In the examples the couple is Rohan and Priya. The mehndi is on Friday 11 December at 4 pm, the haldi on Saturday 12 December at 10 am, and the sangeet that evening at 7 pm at Shubh Party Plot, Surat. Change these to your own details and leave {{name}} as it is.

Not every guest is invited to every function. Add a column such as functions to your sheet (for example 'mehndi and sangeet') and write {{functions}} in the message, or send separate lists. With a PDF card you can also leave out the sangeet page for guests who are only invited to the wedding.

Put each guest's name on the function card

Many families now design one card for each function, or one PDF with a page per function. In Rapid Sender you upload the card once, place a name box where the guest's name should go, and every guest receives their own copy with their name printed on it.

With a PDF, pages can be skipped per guest: the sangeet page can go only to close family and friends, while other guests get just the wedding page. You set this with a column in your sheet.

How to send the function invitations

  1. 1

    Prepare the list

Make a sheet with name and phone (with country code). Add a column for which functions each guest is invited to, if it differs.

  2. 2

    Link your WhatsApp

Open rapid-sender.com and scan the QR code from WhatsApp (Linked devices). Nothing to install.

  3. 3

    Write the message

Upload the sheet, paste a template from this page and insert {{name}} with the + Name button.

  4. 4

    Attach the card

Attach the function card PDF or picture and place the name box on it. Use page rules if some guests should not get some pages.

  5. 5

    Test and send

Send a test to yourself, then send to all. The live report shows who has received the invitation.

Tips

  • Send function invitations together with the wedding card, 2 to 3 weeks before, so guests can plan outfits.

  • Always mention the dress code. Guests worry about it more than anything else.

  • Keep a separate list for the dance team and send rehearsal timings to just them.

  • On the day, send one short reminder with the location pin, not several.

Frequently asked questions

What should I write in a mehndi invitation?

The bride's or couple's names, date, time, venue and the dress code. For example: "Dear {{name}}, please join us for Priya's mehndi ceremony on 11 December at 4 pm at Shubh Party Plot. Dress code: green and yellow."

What is haldi called in Gujarati?

In Gujarati weddings the haldi ceremony is called pithi (પીઠી). The sangeet evening is often called sangeet sandhya, and many Gujarati families add raas-garba to it.

Yes. Make a separate list, or add a column to your sheet and use it in the message. With a PDF card in Rapid Sender you can also leave out the sangeet page for guests who are not invited to it.

One invitation with the full schedule is easiest for most guests. Separate messages work well when only close family is invited to the haldi or mehndi.
