Engagement invitation messages for WhatsApp
Here are 40 engagement invitation messages for WhatsApp: formal family invitations, warm notes for friends, ring ceremony and sagai wording in Hindi, short save-the-date lines and polite reminders. Each one uses {{name}}, so every relative and friend is invited by their own name, and you can send the e-card with their name printed on it too.
Updated · Free · No install · Works with your own WhatsAppHow to use these engagement messages
In the examples the couple is Karan and Sneha, the engagement is on Sunday 22 November at Hotel Royal Orchid, Vadodara, at 11 am. Change these to your own details. Leave {{name}} exactly as it is: when you send, it is replaced with each guest's name from your list.
Some templates also use {{date}}, {{time}} or {{venue}}. These are simply column names. If your Excel sheet has a column called time, the message picks up each person's time from that column. This is useful when close family is called earlier for the ring ceremony and other guests come later for lunch. If everyone has the same details, just type them into the message instead.

Print each guest's name on the engagement e-card
A message with the guest's name is good. An e-card with the guest's name printed on it feels like a real hand-written invitation. Rapid Sender can do this for free: you upload your engagement card once as a PDF or image, place a name box on the blank line (for example under 'Shri / Smt' or 'Sadar Amantran'), and every guest gets their own copy of the card with their name on it.
You choose the font, size, colour and alignment of the name. Gujarati and Hindi fonts are included, so if your list has names in Gujarati or Devanagari script, they print correctly. When you send a PDF, WhatsApp shows a preview of the card's first page in the chat with your message as the caption, so the guest sees their named card straight away.
How to send the invitation to your whole list with each name
- 1
Prepare the guest list
Make an Excel or Google Sheet with a name column and a phone column (with country code, like 91 98xxxxxx). Add other columns if you need them, such as time or side. Save it as .xlsx or .csv. You can also add a few numbers by hand.
- 2
Open Rapid Sender and link your WhatsApp
Open rapid-sender.com in your browser. There is nothing to install and no signup. Scan the QR code from WhatsApp (Linked devices, then Link a device), or use the pairing code if you are on the same phone.
- 3
Upload the list and write the message
Upload the sheet (up to 5,000 contacts). Copy a template from this page, paste it in, and use the + Name button to insert {{name}}. Any other column, like {{time}}, works the same way.
- 4
Attach the card and place the name
Attach your engagement card PDF or image. Drag a name box onto the card where the guest's name should appear and pick the font. The live preview shows how the card looks for each guest.
- 5
Send a test to yourself, then send
Send a test to your own number to check the message and card on your phone. Then send to everyone. Rapid Sender waits a random 7 to 10 seconds between messages, so 100 guests take about 16 minutes, and the live report shows who has received it.
Etiquette and timing tips
Send the invitation 2 to 3 weeks before the engagement. For a save-the-date, 4 to 6 weeks is fine.
Call elders and very close relatives personally first, then send the e-card so they have all the details.
Keep the message short and put the full details on the card. Long messages are often not read.
Send a reminder only the day before, not daily.
Avoid sending late at night or very early in the morning. Between 10 am and 8 pm is comfortable for most families.
Use the alternate number option if you have a second WhatsApp number, and send in batches if your list is very long.
After the event, a short thank-you message to everyone who came is a lovely touch.
Frequently asked questions
How do I invite people for an engagement on WhatsApp?
Write a short, warm message with the couple's names, date, time and venue, attach the e-card, and send it to each guest personally. With Rapid Sender you can send the same invitation to your whole list with each guest's name in the message and on the card, from your own WhatsApp number.
What is a good sagai invitation message in Hindi?
A simple one is: "आदरणीय {{name}} जी, बड़ों के आशीर्वाद से हमारे सुपुत्र की सगाई 22 नवंबर को होना तय हुई है। आप सपरिवार सादर आमंत्रित हैं।" Change the names and date to yours. There are more Hindi and Hinglish versions above.
Is it acceptable to send an engagement invitation on WhatsApp?
Yes. Most Indian families now send engagement e-cards on WhatsApp, especially for guests in other cities. For elders and close family, a phone call before the message is still a good idea.
Can I add the guest's name to the engagement e-card?
Yes. Upload the card as a PDF or image in Rapid Sender, place a name box where the name should go and pick a font. Every guest receives their own card with their name printed on it. Gujarati and Hindi fonts are available.
When should I send the engagement invitation?
About 2 to 3 weeks before the ceremony, with a reminder the day before. If many guests travel, send a save-the-date 4 to 6 weeks ahead.
Do guests need to have my number saved?
No. Messages sent through Rapid Sender go from your own WhatsApp number as normal personal chats, so they reach guests even if they have not saved your number.
Ready to send your message?
Upload your list, write your message and connect your WhatsApp. It is free and takes a few minutes.
