How do these fancy fonts work?

Apps like WhatsApp do not let you pick a font. But Unicode, the standard every phone uses for text, includes complete alphabets that look bold, italic, cursive, gothic or double-struck – originally for maths. This generator swaps each English letter for its stylish twin, so what you copy is ordinary text, not a picture or a special font.

That is why it pastes anywhere: your WhatsApp profile name and about, status captions, group names, Instagram and Facebook bios, YouTube channel names and messages. Nothing to install, and the text you type never leaves your browser.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Type your text

Write a name, a word or a short line in the box above. Every style updates as you type.

  2. 2

    Pick a style

Scroll the list – bold and sans bold are the easiest to read, script and gothic look the fanciest.

  3. 3

    Copy it

Press Copy next to the style you like.

  4. 4

    Paste it in WhatsApp

For your name: WhatsApp → Settings → tap your name → paste. For your about line or a status, paste it the same way. In a chat, paste it into the message box and send.

Stylish fonts vs WhatsApp’s own formatting

WhatsApp has its own formatting for messages: *stars* for bold, _underscores_ for italic, ~tildes~ for strike-through and three backticks for monospace. Those work only inside chats and status text – not in your profile name or about – and the person needs WhatsApp to see them.

Unicode fonts from this page work everywhere, including your name and about, and look the same on other apps. Use WhatsApp formatting for long messages (it is easier to read and works with screen readers), and stylish fonts for a name, a heading or one special line.

Good to know before you paste

  • Only English letters and numbers change style. Hindi, Gujarati and other scripts have no such alphabets in Unicode, so they stay as you typed them.

  • Very old phones may show some characters as empty boxes. Bold, italic and small caps are the safest; check on your own phone first.

  • Screen readers may read fancy letters one by one or skip them, so keep important information – prices, dates, addresses – in normal text.

  • Search does not match fancy letters: someone searching your contacts or a group for “Priya” will not find “𝓟𝓻𝓲𝔂𝓪”. Keep your plain name somewhere in your profile.

  • For greetings that carry each person’s name in a nice font, the free greeting card maker prints the name on an image instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the font style on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has no font menu, but you can paste text that is already styled. Type it here, copy your favourite style and paste it into your name, about, status or a chat. For bold or italic inside a message you can also use *stars* and _underscores_.

Can I use a stylish font in my WhatsApp name?

Yes. Go to WhatsApp Settings, tap your name, delete it and paste the stylish version. WhatsApp names allow up to 25 characters, and some fancy letters count as two, so keep it short.

Why do some letters show as boxes?

The phone or app does not have that character in its fonts – usually on older Android versions. Pick a simpler style like Bold, Italic or Small caps.

Does this work for Hindi or Gujarati text?

No. Unicode has stylish versions only of the English alphabet and numbers, so other scripts stay unchanged. Emojis are kept as they are.

Is this font generator free and safe?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and works entirely in your browser – what you type is not sent anywhere.
