How to make a Diwali card with a name

A Diwali card with someone’s name on it says you made it for them, not that you forwarded the same picture to everyone. Most card apps make you sign up, edit one card at a time or put their logo on the picture. Here you type the name and the finished card appears straight away, right in your browser.

  1. 1

    Type the name

Write the name the way the person likes to be called: “Priya”, “Mehta Uncle”, “Sharma ji and family”. Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati names such as सुनीता or હેતલ are drawn in a matching font automatically.

  2. 2

    Pick a design

Choose a traditional maroon and gold mandala, fireworks over a row of diyas, a light marigold toran with rangoli, a soft pastel card, emerald paisley, a clean business card, or the शुभ दीपावली, દિવાળીની શુભકામનાઓ and दिवाळीच्या हार्दिक शुभेच्छा cards.

  3. 3

    Make it yours

Pick a colour for the name, change or clear the greeting printed on the card, and add a “from” line – your family, “Team Mehta Jewellers” or your company name.

  4. 4

    Download or share

Press Download image for a full-size 1080 × 1350 JPG with no watermark, or Share on your phone to send it straight to WhatsApp, Instagram or any other app.

Send the card to all your contacts, each with their own name

For a few relatives, making cards one by one is fine. For the whole family group, every customer of your shop, your clients or your staff, press “Send it to everyone with their own name”. The free Rapid Sender opens with the card attached – your greeting and “from” line already on it – and a Diwali wish filled in.

Add your contacts from Excel or CSV, or paste the numbers. Rapid Sender prints each person’s name on their own copy of the card and sends it from your own WhatsApp, one message at a time. Only the name changes from person to person; the greeting and “from” line stay as you typed them. You see the card and the message for the first person before anything is sent, and you can still move the text or change its font.

  1. 5

Press “Send it to everyone with their own name”

The sender opens with your customised card attached and a matching wish in the message box.

  2. 6

    Add your contacts

Upload an Excel or CSV file with a name and a phone column, paste numbers, or type them in. The name column is what gets printed on each card.

  3. 7

    Check the first card

The preview shows the card and the message exactly as your first contact will get them. Edit the wish if you like – {{name}} in the message is filled in too.

  4. 8

    Connect WhatsApp and send

Scan the QR code once with your phone, send a test to yourself, then start. The cards go out one by one with a gap between them, from your own number.

  • Diwali & New Year frame: an ornate arch that wishes Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year in one card.

  • शुभ दीपावली, દિવાળીની શુભકામનાઓ (with નૂતન વર્ષાભિનંદન and સાલ મુબારક) and दिवाळीच्या हार्दिक शुभेच्छा: for family and customers who prefer Hindi, Gujarati or Marathi.

When to send your Diwali cards in 2026

Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) is on Sunday 8 November 2026. Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November, Govardhan Puja and the Gujarati New Year (Bestu Varas) on Monday 9 November, and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. Cards sent on the evening of 7 November or early on Diwali morning are read before the rush; a card sent at noon on Diwali gets lost among hundreds of others. For Gujarati family and customers, a Saal Mubarak card on 9 November is a lovely second greeting.
