How to set up a greeting message in WhatsApp Business

Greeting messages are a feature of the free WhatsApp Business app, not regular WhatsApp. The menu names below are from the current app; they can move slightly between versions.

   Open Business tools

   In the WhatsApp Business app, tap the three dots and then Business tools on Android, or go to Settings and then Business tools on iPhone.

   Tap Greeting message and switch on Send greeting message.

   Tap the message to edit it. Paste one of the greeting texts above and change the business name. Tap OK.

   Under Recipients, choose Everyone, Everyone not in address book, Everyone except certain contacts, or Only send to certain contacts.

How to send a welcome message to every new customer with their name

A greeting message only answers people who message you first.
