Chhath falls on Kartik Shukla Shashthi, about six days after Diwali. In 2026 the Sandhya Arghya is around Sunday 15 November, with Nahay-Khay two days before, Kharna the day before and Usha Arghya the next morning. Check your local panchang, as timings vary by city.
General wishes work best on Nahay-Khay or Kharna, when people are at home preparing. On the Arghya days families are busy at the ghat.
Usha Arghya morning is a good time for a short 'Jai Chhathi Maiya' after the fast ends.
